A:  Event - Bake for Hope holds volunteer run community bake sales throughout the US. The event is held the week before Mothers Day each year, this year, May 2nd - 8th.

Volunteers perform all tasks associated with the event, organizing the sale, donating baked goods, marketing and sale day support. Organizers of the bake sale are the main coordinators for each sale. Bakers and sale day helpers work directly with the bake sale Organizers to volunteer.can be individuals, social groups, sport teams, seniors, kids, schools, businesses, etc. The idea is to have a large scale community event where everyone can participate.

Locations - bake sales can be held on any day during the event week and at any time day or night. Bake sales are held in any city, and in a variety of locations  (e.i. neighborhood, farmers market, church, community center, school, place of business, etc.). As Bake Sale Organizers secure locations the information about their sale location and contact information will be shared on the Meetup.com site in their area and on the Bake Sale Locations page. This provides 2 ways for for Bakers and attendees to connect to sales.

Bake sales can consist of a variety of items, pies, cookies, cakes, dipped pretzels, cupcakes, breads, nuts, even dog treats. Bake sales can have a dozen times or dozens upon dozens of baked goods. This event is about participation not quantity. More info on the bake sales are located in the Organizers Kit and Bakers kit available on the website.

Proceeds - Organizers conduct sales with event volunteers and submit all donations to Bake for Hope. Bake for Hope in turn collects donations from each cities sales, deduducts insurance and event costs and donates 100% of its proceeds to the given cities local Susan G. Komen for the Cure affiliate. This is turn is used for breast cancer treatments for women dealing with breast cancer. This is to keep money raised local in the community.

A: The first step is to access the Bake Sale Organizers page, read agreement and enter contact information. This completes Organizer registration.

Organizers will then receive the BFH Organizer Status Certificate and the BFH Organizers Kit. This kit contains information on securing a bake sale location, connecting with bakers, pricing sheets, checklists, etc.

A: Meetup.com is a social network that provides anyone a way to create a group of interest and invite others to join. For instance, if you love sailing you can create a sailing group or join one and take sailing trips with sailing friends.

The event is organized by 2 websites - the Bake for Hope website (which you are on now) and Meetup.com websites in most major cities.(links provided on Bake Sale Locations page.)  The Bake for Hope website is used for general information and to advertise Bake Sale Locations. The Meetup.com site is used as a cost-effective way for participants to sign-up, event communications and scheduling events. Its not required to sign up on meetup.com to participate, but recommended for updates.

Bake for Hope is using the meetup.com site similarly, with one exception. It only has one week of events per year. There are no regular monthly meetup meetings.
